Bathroom Makeovers By DGR Interior Designs

One of my favorite projects to work on as an Interior Designer is the Bathroom. I just love all the tile choices, especially all the deco accents and I can use my creativity to redesign the space.

Most of the time the Bathrooms are completely gutted and redone but not all of my clients have that kind of budget. If you don’t have the budget to completely start over, you can make a huge impact if you change out paint or wallpaper, faucets/fixtures, mirrors, lighting, new towels, area rug, etc. This will also add value if you are trying to sell your house.  However, when most people are looking to buy a new house, an outdated bathroom can bring your price down and even become the deal breaker. In this tough real estate market, I think more now than ever, it is important to update Bathrooms and Kitchens to make it easier to sell. You will always get back the money invested in updating kitchens and bathrooms. But don’t wait until you want to sell your home, be sure to do it well before you sell so that you can enjoy it also!

I am going to share with you some Bathroom projects that I have done. All of them are drastic improvements from what was there before I made any changes.

The first two baths were gutted but no walls were moved. We worked with the same footprint of the original bathrooms. Although there was no more additional space, I think the space was utilized much more efficiently with a much better room layout.

The next two baths were back to back in the house and by moving the wall between them and removing a hall closet we gained an additional 18″ in the small master bath which now made it large enough to put in a 5ft sit down shower. Previously there was only room for a small one piece stall shower.
